To raise the levels of transparency and assurance in Germany's management consultancy market – this is the objective of the "FOCUS Top Consultants" study implemented by FOCUS Business and the Burda subsidiary FactField specializing in market research. On the client side and at the consultancies themselves, a total of more than 17,000 experts were interviewed about their experiences with management consultancies. 269 consultancies active in at least one of 22 specialist areas or one of 17 sectors and located in Germany have made it onto the recommendation list of FOCUS Business in 2023. b.telligent has also performed impressively for the third year in a row, being able to assert itself in 16 evaluation categories this year, twice as many as in the previous year.

The methodology
In an online survey as well as personal and telephone conversations forming part of the study, experts in Germany, including managing directors, partners, principals of consulting firms as well as clients' decision-makers who themselves used consultancy services were interviewed by FOCUS Business to determine their recommendations about consultancies. A prerequisite for inclusion in one of the top consultancy lists is an above-average number of recommendations within a department or sector, as well as a location in Germany. Listings in several categories are accordingly possible. The list is not a ranking, but an alphabetically sorted representation of consultancies, including the ratings they have received.
