Online workshop | Nov 11, 2026 | 9:00 AM
This three-hour hands-on workshop teaches participants how to translate data product thinking into practice in Microsoft Fabric. Following a concise theoretical introduction to the core principles of data products, the different product types, and the concept of data contracting, the session shows how this theory maps onto the technical building blocks of Fabric. Participants then put what they have learned directly into practice: in the Fabric workshop workspace, they build both a source-aligned and a business-refined data product following a predefined master template, and create a data contract based on the open ODPS standard, which they also reference within Fabric. The workshop thus combines conceptual understanding with immediate hands-on application.
Core message:
Data products are a mindset, not just a technology: clear ownership, well-defined interfaces (data contracts), and awareness of different product types. Fabric makes this mindset technically actionable.
Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (workspaces, lakehouse/warehouse concepts), own fabric-capacity in customer-tenant.
